Women J/70 Drivers!

Sailing is a very social sport! Birds of a feather! While in Annapolis for the 2021 J/70 North Americans my J/70 YOLO! was parked next to Margarette McKillin's J/70 "Magatron". (Magatron was Margarette's childhood nickname!). On my same dock was a lady by the name of Jenn Norwood-Wulff. Both have exceptional J/70 racing programs and are having a lot of fun and exhibit a lot of passion towards racing these boats and having fun sailing J/70's. Great subject matter for a video! https://youtu.be/yYrvscYiqhY...

2021 J/70 North Americans!

I arrived late Saturday and dropped YOLO! off at Eastport YC. A couple of very nice members unhooked her and moved the boat into a nice spot! But on Sunday they kicked me out! Turns out the organizers had re-assigned me to Annapolis Yacht Club-so down the road we went! All of about 3 blocks! Then the boat prep began! YOLO! was filthy from the road grime. Reed and Austin showed up Monday afternoon, repairs and maintenance was completed and rig up! I was talking to one of the crew members from the J/70 "Megatron" and learned it was owned by a lady named Maggie. Her husband owns and races a J/70 called "Surge" and she enjoyed going to the regatta's so much she bought her own J/70! So husband and wife with his and her boats attend the J/70 events! Super cool!~Scott Spurlin...

A Nice Hello from the J/99 YOLO!

I just LOVE it when I get unexpected e-mails like this! From the new owner of our inventory J/99: Hi Scott, Loving the boat so much, thanks for taking good care of her under your watch! As promised here are a couple photos. I think we might have even “placed” in an honor system timed course last night in the “Hope Island Dash” that our club tracks annually. We sold this boat through the Seattle J/Dealer and friends to their client!...

"Big YOLO" says goodbye

The J/99 that I never named-but nicknamed "Big YOLO" is off to Seattle!... Like every J/Boat that I have owned they all have made special memories. Amy Brock Strebel Douglas Strebel Felipe Payet Justin Wolfe Ed Pierce and myself raced this boat down the Texas coast from Galveston to Port Aransas in the Harvest Moon Regatta. That race there was no harvest moon, it was pitch black, the seas were confused, and many boats had to be rescued. We raced the boat well, finished 2nd in class and had a blast! I would race any race with this team! Anytime! Anywhere. We took the risk and made a great forever memory! So Long Big Yolo! I look forward to hearing about new memories made with your new owner and I hope I get to come to Seattle and visit!...
